Analgesia

Analgesia refers to the inability to feel pain, or the relief of pain without losing consciousness. It is distinct from anesthesia, which blocks all sensations.

Anesthesia

Anesthesia is the use of medications to induce a state of controlled, temporary loss of sensation or awareness. It prevents pain and allows medical, surgical, or dental procedures to be performed safely and comfortably.

API

In pharma, API stands for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient. It is the raw, biologically active component in a medication that directly produces the intended therapeutic effect—such as relieving pain, lowering blood pressure, or fighting an infection.

Bilirubin

Bilirubin is a yellow-orange pigment produced in the body during the normal breakdown of old red blood cells. It travels to the liver, where it is processed, mixed into bile, and ultimately excreted from the body in stool.

Billy Crystal

William Edward “Billy” Crystal (born March 14, 1948) is an American comedian, actor, and filmmaker. He is known as a stand-up comedian and for his film and stage roles. Not to be confused with Billy Gilmour (q.v).

Billy Gilmour

Billy Clifford Gilmour (born 11 June 2001) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Serie A club Napoli and the Scotland national team, but he’s always injured so that’s no use to man nor beast.

Crystal

In pharmaceuticals, a crystal refers to a highly ordered solid material where active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are arranged in distinct, repeating molecular patterns. Not to be confused with Billy Crystal (q.v).
