Workplace Accelerator Programme: Combining immersive reality with technical lectures and interactive workshops to build the skills for medicines manufacturing

19 January 2026

To address critical skills shortages across the UK medicines manufacturing sector, Resilience has co‑designed a three‑tier Workplace Accelerator Programme that gives learners structured, hands‑on insight into working within a regulated environment. The programme supports talent at every stage: Foundation (16–19‑year‑olds), Advanced (undergraduates) and Professional (career‑changers and returners).

A core feature across all levels is the use of your immersive reality technologies software from FourPlus Immersive and Body Swaps within your Enhanced Membership package. The virtual cleanrooms, digital equipment twins and simulated manufacturing workflows allow learners to practise technical tasks such as cleanroom gowning, aseptic behaviours and health and safety within a safe, scalable environment. These are put into context with technical lectures, interactive workshops and facilitated independent research about the sector. These tools also build vital transferable skills, including communication, decision‑making and situational awareness, by placing learners in realistic team‑based scenarios.

At Foundation level, immersive modules introduce students to the realities of regulated manufacturing, helping them understand roles that are often invisible in traditional STEM education. Technical modules include an introduction to the world of medicines manufacturing, product quality, sustainable processes and safe working practices. Combined with transferable skills modules on values, behaviours, career pathways and interview practice the whole package offers a 5-day virtual work experience programme.

The Advanced level deepens exposure through virtual process development laboratories, project management and problem‑solving simulations aligned to real world industry challenges. Over 3 days of deep technical lectures, skills workshops and immersive reality training this accelerator includes extended practice of the technical and transferable skills highlighted by the sector as vital for success.

The Professional level uses immersive training to accelerate readiness for technician and scientist roles, particularly for returners who need rapid upskilling.

By combining employer design, immersive learning and structured progression routes, the Workplace Accelerator Programme directly responds to sector‑wide demand for industry ready employees. It is helping build a diverse, confident and future‑ready workforce for the UK’s medicines manufacturing ecosystem.
