Data Analytics 1: Introduction to Statistics

This two-day course will cover the fundamentals of statistics, with a focus on practically implementing the methods as well as understanding why they work.

This course applies the mathematical principles that underpin these statistical methods to real-world bioprocessing data and relates this to how we determine significant differences in both academic experiments and industrial R&D.

Learning outcomes

  • What are statistics? How do we summarise variation of data?

  • Learn How to Perform:

  • A T-test to compare two groups

  • Analysis of variance (ANOVA)

  • Linear regression and correlation

  • Chi-square tests and non-parametric tests
